More than 40.7 million people visited cemeteries, memorial parks and columbaria across the Philippines during the Undas 2026 observance, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).

PNP chief General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said in a statement on Monday, November 2, that authorities recorded 40,740,246 visitors in 5,311 sites nationwide since October 30.

Police also confiscated 6,499 prohibited items during security operations conducted throughout the observance.

The seized items included 879 pointed or bladed weapons, 62 alcoholic drinks, 2,817 lighters, 1,739 cigarette and vape products, 180 cooking materials, 397 flammable substances and other restricted items.

Nartatez said police personnel would remain deployed as the Undas period draws to a close, particularly along major roads and transport terminals, to assist the public and maintain security.

“Alam naming mahalaga ang araw na ito sa bawat pamilyang Pilipino. Kaya habang inaalala ninyo ang inyong mga mahal sa buhay, narito ang inyong kapulisan upang tumulong at tiyaking ligtas ang inyong pagdalaw. Hindi lamang kami nakabantay sa seguridad; handa rin kaming umalalay sa sinumang nangangailangan,” he said.

Meanwhile, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has shifted its operational focus to managing the return of Metro Manila residents who traveled outside the capital during the long weekend.

NCRPO director Brigadier General Christopher Abrahano said police units had been instructed to maintain a visible presence and respond promptly at major entry points, transport terminals and roads expected to experience heavier passenger and vehicle traffic.

“Our mission now is to help ensure that our fellow Metro Manilans return home safely and conveniently after the Undas long weekend. We are positioning our personnel where they are most needed and coordinating closely with our partner agencies to manage the expected increase in people and vehicles entering the National Capital Region,” the NCRPO chief said.

The NCRPO will continue monitoring traffic conditions and passenger movements, particularly along major routes leading into Metro Manila and at transport hubs.

Police personnel will also assist commuters and motorists and respond to emergencies and other incidents as travel activity increases.

Abrahano urged motorists to remain patient and follow traffic rules to prevent congestion and road accidents. He specifically warned against counterflowing, illegal parking, distracted driving and other unsafe practices that could worsen traffic conditions.

Police operations will continue as authorities work to ensure the safe and orderly return of travelers following the Undas holiday.
