Kim Chiu’s Sister Arrested Over 124 Qualified Theft Count

Businesswoman Lakambini “Lakam” Chiu, the older sister of actress-host Kim Chiu, was arrested in Mandaluyong City on Sunday, Sept. 20, over 124 counts of qualified theft, police said.

Lakam, 45, was arrested at around 4 p.m. in Barangay Wack Wack after police served a warrant issued by Branch 84 of the Quezon City Regional Trial Court.

The warrant carried a total recommended bail of P5.838 million, according to the Quezon City Police District (QCPD).

Police said Lakam was ranked as the No. 6 most wanted person of the Kamuning Police Station before her arrest.

She was brought to QCPD Station 10, where she remained in custody for documentation and proper disposition.

QCPD director Police Brig. Gen. Christopher Olazo said the arrest was carried out in accordance with the court-issued warrant regardless of the identity of the person involved.

“No matter who the person is, a valid warrant of arrest must be enforced in accordance with the law. The QCPD will continue its intelligence-driven operations to locate wanted persons and bring them before the proper authorities,” Olazo said.

The qualified theft charges stem from a complaint filed by Kim in December 2025.

According to the information provided, Kim pursued the case after discovering alleged serious financial discrepancies involving business partnerships that she had entrusted to her older sister to manage.

Kim previously said she made the decision to file the charges despite their family relationship, citing the need to protect the company, its employees and the business she had built.

The case now proceeds through the judicial process following Lakam’s arrest and the enforcement of the warrant by police.
