Consolacion LGU Launches Free Spay and Neuter Veterinary Mission for Aspins and Puspins

The Municipality of Consolacion has launched a Veterinary Mission offering free spay (laygit) and neuter (kapon) services for Aspins (Asong Pinoy) and Puspins (Pusang Pinoy).

Pet owners in Consolacion are encouraged to participate in the scheduled pre-screening and interview tomorrow as part of the municipality’s initiative to promote responsible pet ownership and humane population control.

The program prioritizes Aspins and Puspins, which are among the country’s most common mixed-breed dogs and cats and are often at higher risk of abandonment.

Pet owners who wish to avail of the free spay and neuter program are advised to look for Ms. Nonalyn Sasan during the screening. Organizers clarified that pets are not required during the pre-screening and interview.

When: August 1, 2026 (Saturday), 8:00 AM
Where: Consolacion Central School Gymnasium

The program is open only to qualified pets that will undergo spay (laygit) or neuter (kapon) procedures.

To qualify, pets must:

1. Be an Aspin or Puspin.
2. Female pets must be between 6 months and 7 years old.
3. Must not have any skin disease (such as kagid or mange).
4. Must not have experienced vomiting or diarrhea within the past seven days.
5. Must appear healthy and active during the health screening.

Pet owners are reminded that animals failing to meet the health requirements will not be accepted for surgery. Pets must be clean and safely restrained using a leash, carrier, or cage.

Owners should also ensure that their pets receive no food or water for at least eight hours before surgery and arrive at their assigned schedule to help prevent overcrowding.

Organizers also emphasized that no walk-in applicants will be accommodated for the spay and neuter procedures on August 1, making the pre-screening mandatory for those intending to avail of the service.

Aside from the spay and neuter program, the veterinary mission will also provide free anti-rabies vaccination, deworming, and vitamins on a walk-in basis until supplies last.

Unlike the surgery program, these services do not require pre-screening; however, pets must be present to receive them.

The Municipality of Consolacion hopes the initiative will contribute to healthier pets, responsible pet ownership, and a more compassionate community through accessible veterinary care.
