The Philippines will welcome more than 4,500 new doctors after the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced the results of the October 2025 Physicians Licensure Examination (PLE).
In a statement released Thursday, October 16, 2025, the PRC reported that the PLE achieved a passing rate of 77 percent. “A total of 4,570 out of 5,900 passed the Physicians Licensure Examination given by the Board of Medicine,” the PRC said.
The top spot in this year’s examination was secured by Kharam Baricaua Molbog of the University of Santo Tomas (UST), who achieved an impressive 91.17 percent rating, earning recognition as the PLE’s topnotcher.
The licensure exam, conducted by the Board of Medicine, determines eligibility for medical graduates to practice as licensed physicians in the country. Thousands of aspiring doctors from various medical schools nationwide took part in the October 2025 round of testing, making it one of the most competitive batches in recent years.
The PRC said that while most results have been finalized, the outcome for one examinee was withheld pending “final determination of his or her liabilities under the rules and regulations governing licensure examinations.”
Additionally, the results of two other examinees were withheld pending submission of required documents, according to the commission.
Following the release of the results, the PRC announced that initial registration for the issuance of Professional Identification Cards (IDs) and Certificates of Registration will begin online through www.prc.gov.ph starting November 24.
Applicants are required to register online and personally sign the Roster of Registered Professionals to complete the process.
The PRC reminded successful examinees to prepare the following documents for registration: a duly accomplished oath form, notice of admission (for identification purposes), two passport-sized colored photos with white background and a complete name tag, two sets of documentary stamps, and one short brown envelope.
The PRC also noted that the date and venue for the official oathtaking ceremony of the new physicians will be announced at a later date.
The PLE, conducted twice a year, is one of the most rigorous and highly anticipated professional exams in the country. It serves as the final step for medical graduates before they can legally practice medicine in hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare institutions.
This year’s results bring renewed optimism to the country’s healthcare sector, which continues to address the growing demand for medical professionals, especially in underserved areas.
The addition of over 4,500 newly licensed physicians is expected to strengthen healthcare delivery nationwide.
With the PRC’s announcement, medical schools across the Philippines—particularly the University of Santo Tomas, one of the country’s oldest and most respected medical institutions—celebrated the achievements of their graduates who successfully passed the exam.
The PRC’s release of the October 2025 PLE results marks another milestone for the country’s future doctors, who are now set to take their oath and officially begin their journey as licensed physicians serving the Filipino people.
