What was once a reminder of destruction is now becoming a symbol of progress for the Municipality of Minglanilla.
Demolition of the old municipal building, which was destroyed by a fire in 2023, officially began this week, paving the way for the construction of a new multi-purpose government building beside the municipal hall.
The activity was followed by a groundbreaking ceremony attended by local officials, marking the start of a project aimed at improving public services for Minglanilla residents.
The old building had remained standing since the fire, serving as a visible reminder of the incident that disrupted municipal operations.
With demolition now underway, the municipality is moving forward with plans to replace it with a modern facility designed to serve a wider range of community needs.
Once completed, the new government building will house several key public service offices and facilities, including an Animal Bite Center, Laboratory, Autism and Special Needs Support Center, Pharmacy, E-Library, Youth Center, and a Transport Terminal.
By bringing these services together in one location, the local government hopes to make essential healthcare, education, youth development, and transportation services more accessible and convenient for residents.
Beyond replacing a building lost to fire, the project reflects the municipality’s continuing efforts to strengthen public service infrastructure while addressing the evolving needs of its growing community.
As Minglanilla continues to grow, the new facility is expected to play a key role in delivering more efficient and inclusive government services.
For many residents, the project represents more than just a new building. It transforms a site once marked by tragedy into one that symbolizes resilience, renewal, and a commitment to better serving the community in the years ahead.
