Cebu experiences a flurry of musical culture as Fête de la Musique Cebu 2026 takes the diverse city by storm. A city-wide music festival featuring over 60 performers across multiple stages, this weekend showcase brought in new blends of Cebuano music with different styles and genres taking the spotlight.
From soulful classics to reggae, Afrobeats, indie, and original Cebuano compositions, the annual celebration once again proved that music knows no boundaries.
Originally launched in France in 1982, Fête de la Musique, also known as World Music Day or Make Music Day, has grown into a global celebration observed in over 120 countries and more than 700 cities.
In Cebu, the festival is organized through the collaboration of Alliance Française de Cebu and Melt Records, highlighting the city’s ever-growing local was music scene while embracing musical influences from around the world.
In an interview with Fern, one of the event organizers from Handuraw Pizza, he comments that Fête de la Musique Cebu aims to create a platform where both emerging and established artists can express their passion through music.
“Fête de la Musique is all about promoting local talents and we’re very fortunate we were given a chance to be a part of this event, to represent our genre (reggae),” he commented.
The music festival began on the 18th of June at the Marco Polo Plaza Hotel Lobby, spotlighting the harmonious melodies of French music with Cebuano voices.
This continued to their weekend takeover from the 20th to 21st of June at Ayala Malls Central Bloc, taking many local artists to the main stage.
And ending the month of June with a bang, they had a night of music across 5 different locations in the city, alongside the ATUAng Pride Rally 2026 at Atua Midtown, with performances of a number of different artists.

Returning performers from previous festivals shared the stage with new talents, reflecting the event’s commitment to continuously growing Cebu’s creative community.
The festival has also actively supported local musicians through projects such as the compilation album Dance Wid’ Me, which featured Cebuano artists alongside musicians from Manila and Bicol.
The initiative further strengthened the festival’s advocacy of promoting local artistry while introducing diverse genres, including ska and reggae, to wider audiences.

For many of the performers, taking part in the festival is more than simply playing music but it is about representing their communities and connecting with listeners.
Afrobeats artist MISTERMIL, who performed at the festival for the second time around, shared how meaningful it was to once again be part of an event celebrated simultaneously across different parts of the Philippines.
“I’m so honored cause it’s our second time to do this, it’s an annual thing, and I like the fact that we have this platform that people can enjoy different types of music,” he shared.
Meanwhile, reggae band FIYAH expressed gratitude for being invited back to the festival.
“Thankful kay mi kay gi invite mi diri, naka represent mi sa mga original (songs) namo, naka establish mi ug community sa kaning reggae music… Some of us are new and naa lang mi songs na gipang re-record para ma relive namo ang mga kanta sauna.. 16 years na (mi), turning 17 years by november na…” they commented.
Being one of many bands that make a return to the Festival, FIYAH expressed how thrilled they are to be a continuing influence to the Cebuano music scene.
With deep roots and over 16 years of memories, FIYAH remains committed to sharing the reggae genre to new audiences, playing the same songs they’ve made as a band.

Another performer, Drippie Eric, together with Phirestarter, brought a distinct blend of Afrobeats infused with Bisaya lyrics, showcasing how local artists continue to innovate while staying rooted in their identity.

More than just a music festival, Fête de la Musique Cebu has become a celebration of local culture and artistic expression.
It provides a stage where musicians from different backgrounds, genres, and generations can share their stories while reminding audiences that world-class talent can be found right here at home.
As this year’s celebration comes to a close, one thing remains certain: Cebu’s music scene continues to thrive. With Fête de la Musique returning every June, music lovers and aspiring artists alike have yet another reason to look forward to an even bigger celebration in 2027.
