The Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CCDRRMO) has confirmed that a total of 30 casualties, including 17 deaths, have been recorded in Cebu City following the passage of Typhoon Tino, which left behind a trail of flooding, landslides, and destruction across multiple barangays.

According to a situation report dated November 6, 2025, most of the fatalities came from Barangay Bacayan — one of the areas hardest hit by flash floods and soil erosion. The victims ranged from elderly residents to children and young adults, many of whom were unable to evacuate in time before floodwaters surged.

Two unidentified individuals were also found in Barangay Bacayan, while another victim was confirmed in Barangay Binaliw. Further fatalities were reported in Saint Bernard, on North Bacalso Avenue (two deaths), and at C. Padilla Street in Barangay Oriental (one death).

Funeral homes in the city have coordinated with authorities to manage the remains of the identified victims. Among these facilities are including Rolling Hills (A. S. Fortuna), Cosmopolitan Lahug, Cosmopolitan Junquera, and Everlasting Nasipit.

The term “casualties,” as used in the report, covers individuals who were injured, missing, or confirmed dead in the aftermath of the storm, while “deaths” refers strictly to those whose passing has been officially confirmed.

Despite some areas beginning recovery, search and retrieval operations are ongoing in sections of the city still impacted by Typhoon Tino’s floods and landslides.

The latest figures underscore the storm’s severe impact on vulnerable communities, with Barangay Bacayan emerging as a critical zone due to its heavy exposure to landslide hazards.

Residents who could not escape in time were particularly at risk when waters rose rapidly, synchronizing with torrential rains and unstable ground.

Local officials are now focusing on emergency response and clean-up efforts, while also assisting families who have lost loved ones.

The magnitude of the damage and the fatality count reflect both the intensity of the storm’s impact and the ongoing challenge of ensuring timely evacuations and effective disaster-risk management in hillside and flood-prone locales.

As investigations continue and relief operations progress, the city remains under heightened alert. Authorities are urging the public to stay updated on recovery efforts and to support affected communities through donations, volunteer efforts, or other means.

The 17 confirmed deaths serve as a tragic reminder of the danger posed by typhoons, especially in areas with landscapes susceptible to collapse and flooding.

Recovery efforts will likely stretch over the coming days and weeks, as the CCDRRMO and partner agencies work to restore infrastructure, secure displaced residents, and prevent further loss of life in the wake of Typhoon Tino.
